Current and maximum stamina are displayed both on the character screen and the interface bar (when the cursor is held over the stamina meter). Stamina meter turns red when current stamina is less than 25% maximum stamina, and blue when a Stamina Shrine or Stamina Potion is active.
Stamina normally drains whenever a player character runs in the wilderness; when it runs out, a character can no longer run, and must walk. Stamina displayed is rounded down to the nearest point, but the smallest unit is actually 1/256 point. Stamina varies depending on chosen class at start of game:
Stamina can also be increased by bonuses applied in the order listed below. However, character typically gains sufficient stamina from gaining levels and allocating attribute points to Vitality to make these bonuses unnecessary. Faster Run/Walk and other movement speed modifiers also reduce the need for higher stamina, since taking less time to travel the same distance means less stamina is drained.
Maximum Stamina
Maximum Stamina from equipped items, and charms in inventory in Expansion games.
Maximum Stamina (Based on Character Level) bonus is not as desirable as + Maximum Stamina bonuses since it is added after Increase Maximum Stamina %. Furthermore, displayed value is divided by 256 before being applied, so even at level 99 only 99/256 Maximum Stamina is actually added, not 99.
