An intimidating sight that strikes fear into the hearts of her opponents, the Frozen Orb is an awesome spectacle to behold. The Orb coalesces from the air, unleashing freezing bolts at all nearby, and wreaking havoc, seemingly at random, before bursting into a brilliant explosion of frigid destruction.
Fires an orb at target which can pierce it and any other target in its path. Orb applies no cold damage or cold length of its own but fires a bolt which does so in each frame of its 30 frame existence unless it hits an obstacle. Each bolt is size 1 and destroyed upon collision, so they only hit one target.
Frozen Orb
Upon expiring, a nova of 16 bolts also applying cold damage and length is released. If this occurs when the orb is travelling through a target, that target can be hit by multiple bolts. Although these bolts are also size 1 and destroyed on collision, and all can hit a single size 3 target, bolts may still be displayed (although they apply no cold damage or cold length).
Also releases a nova of 16 bolts upon hitting an enemy or obstacle, but these bolts apply no damage or cold length.[1]
When orb expires while passing through a selected size 3 target centered over a more solid blue sub-tile, all 16 nova bolts will hit it (a size 2 target will only be hit by 12); when it expires while passing through a size 3 target centered over a more translucent blue sub-tile, 11 nova bolts will hit it (a size 2 target will only be hit by 5 or 7). The orb travels ~9 1/3 yards before expiring.
When cast continuously, total cold damage (from a maximum of 46 bolts) can be multiplied by 30 / cast rate after the first orb has expired to calculate maximum potential cold damage per second. Cast rate is delay (1 second or 25 frames) plus action frame, so Sorceress cast rate is 25 + (4-7) or 29-32 frames, depending on Faster Cast Rate.
