Holy Freeze
From Basin Wiki (D2 mirror)
Revision as of 08:31, 23 January 2026 by imported>DarkMasterMan(Added info regarding Impale slowing and attack rate/movement speed floors, widened skill progression tables, minor capitalization changes (on that note, in the future it might be worth discussing standardizing the naming of stuff like attack rate/attack speed and movement speed/velocity and such).)
Using this aura, the Paladin causes the temperature of the air around him to drop drastically, freezing the flesh of his enemies. Those so affected will find their movement drastically hindered and are easily dispatched back to the Hells from whence they spawned.
Radial cold damage is applied to hostile targets within radius once every two seconds. If a target is within the radius of multiple auras, then the radial cold damage of all of them is applied.
Weapon cold damage is only applied by the supplier, and it is added to both the arrows and explosions of Freezing Arrow.
+% Cold Skill Damage is applied to skill damage before it's added to weapon damage, then it's applied a second time to melee attacks.
No cold length is applied: HF is a separate source of attack rate and movement speed reduction which adds to that of cold length, Slows Target, and Decrepify, although no unit can be reduced below 15% attack rate or 25% velocity. [1]
In D2R it also adds to that applied by Impale. [2]
Cold Resist or Cannot be Frozen won't reduce or negate the slowing effect, so Immune to Cold targets may still be slowed. However, the value applied is the maximum (least negative) of HF or the target's chill effectiveness. Consequently HF will never apply more than -50 attack rate and -50% movement speed at level >11, and 0 chill effectiveness results in no slowing or radial cold damage being applied. [3]
